A.R.T.(Art Resources in Tsukuba)です。

In recent years, not only to educate and develop future talents and conduct forefront research for new discovery, it is also required for all universities and colleges to contribute to society and their local communities. Although universities and colleges have varieties of works of art and open spaces for exhibit of those works, which called “art resources” as complied, it has been pointed out that they do not effectively utilize their art resources, involving with their local communities.
A research unit named to Art Resources in University of Tsukuba (A.R.T.), including in the Faculty of Art and Design of the University of Tsukuba, positively organized to promote research and advertise art-related activities to the local community, such as exhibitions of works of artand publish of databases of works of art.
For the inter-college utilization of art resources
The unit has raised and asked the question of “What are art resources of the universities and colleges?” to the University. Then, the unit has conducted surveys on differences of art resources, in terms of collaboration, preservation, management, and utilization of the university of museums located in the Universities and colleges, within inter-university of Japan and other countries.
In addition to these surveys, by living along with the local community and supporting their art education for local residents and children, the unit aimed to establish and develop a local-based art educational conceptual philosophy to help local residents to develop self-education skills about art education and art resources.
From the “Art Street” to “Art Line”
The unit informed people outside the University of Tsukuba of its art education and research, and addressed the issue of the utilization of space. We exhibited the Ishii Collection stored in the university, published databases of works of art, and made a proposal of the “Art Street” to effectively utilize small- and medium-sized space for art exhibitions in the university. We will flexibly implement various activities, such as the planning of the “Art Line”, an extension of the “Art Street” accomplished by the Faculty of Art and Design, to continue to utilize “art resources” available on the campus and from other facilities.
