公募の概要

本プログラムは、第一三共「はばたく次世代」応援寄付プログラムに基づき、筑波大学における国際共同研究ネットワークの構築を加速し、幅広い分野にわたる基礎研究に新たなシナジーを生み出すことを目的とします。これにより、国際共同研究プロジェクトの創出や、質の高い国際共著論文数の増加を図り、将来的には地球規模の社会課題の解決にも貢献することを目指します。

 

本目的の達成のため、学内から国際共同研究の提案を公募し、応募を検討している研究者や採択されたプロジェクトの支援を実施します。具体的には、応募準備段階において、国際的な研究チームの形成や異分野連携に関するアドバイスの提供や研究交流を支援するアドバイザー制度を導入します。採択後には、国際ネットワークの構築と拡大、海外ファンドの獲得、国際的な産学連携の促進など、質の高い研究成果の創出に向けた戦略的支援として、国際ダブルメンター制度を導入し、伴走支援を行うことで、国際連携の基盤を強化します。本学の研究者が中心となり、国内外の研究者と国際ネットワークを構築し、国際共同研究を主導することで、日本および世界における基礎研究力の強化・発展に寄与します。また、大学院生やポスドク等の若手研究者の国際共同研究への積極的な参加を促し、世界で活躍できる研究者を育成することで、持続的な基礎研究力の向上を図ります。

 

支援内容

本プログラムでは、国際連携の基盤構築並びに国際的な研究コミュニティにおけるプレゼンスの向上に資する国際共同研究の提案を募集します。

 

以下を目的とする国際共同研究プロジェクトを対象に支援を行います。

1. 最先端の研究開発につながる国際的ネットワークの構築・拡大
2. 国際頭脳循環を促進し、国際的なトップ水準の研究機会を若手研究者等へ提供することによる次世代のトップ研究者育成

 

支援金額・件数

• プロジェクトあたり320万円以下 x 5件

 

1件あたりのプロジェクト内訳（目安）

• プロジェクト支援金（詳細は「支援金使途」を参照）：270万円以下
• 国際ダブルメンター活用費（謝金、旅費など）：50万円以下

 

支援期間

• 2025年8月-2027年2月

 

支援金使途

本プロジェクトにより配分される支援金の使途として下記のような用途を想定しています。（これらの使途に限定するものではありません）

1. 海外渡航費
2. 共同研究実施費
3. 国際ネットワーク構築に必要な人件費
4. ワークショップ等の開催費
5. 成果発表のための経費

 

アドバイザー制度

研究者が本プログラムへの応募準備を行う段階で、必要に応じて「アドバイザー制度」を活用し、国際的なチーム形成や異分野連携などのアドバイスを受けることができます。本制度の利用をご希望の場合には以下のリンクからフォームに必要事項を入力のうえ、ご提出ください。

事務局が申請を受理した後、すでにアドバイザーが決定している場合は、謝金の支払いに関する支援を行います。アドバイザーが未定の場合は、申請者の希望を基に国内外の大学と連携し、アドバイザーの選定を支援します。いずれの場合も、謝金の支払いに関する支援を行います。

すべての基礎研究分野

 

※基礎研究分野の定義：
本プログラムにおける基礎研究分野とは、学術的知見の創出や新たな概念の構築を目的とし、目前の事業化や社会実装にとらわれず、10年先、20年先、100年先の科学技術や社会の発展に寄与することを目指す研究を指します。

 

応募要件

• 応募者は本学の常勤研究者であること
• 応募者を含む国際連携研究グループを形成し応募すること

 

◆研究グループに求める条件：

• コアメンバー4名以上（日本側2名以上、海外側2名以上）
• 若手研究者（大学院生などを含む）2名以上（日本側1名以上、海外側1名以上）
• 研究グループは、6名以上で構成する必要があります。

 

※若手研究者の定義：
本プログラムにおける若手研究者とは、応募時点で大学院博士課程または修士課程に在籍する者、または博士号取得後8年未満の研究者を指します（出産・育児・介護等による研究中断期間がある場合、その期間を除外して計算します）。

若手研究者もコアメンバーになれます。

※コアメンバーの定義：

コアメンバーには、学生は含められません。

なお、チーム構成における各メンバーの区分（コアメンバー、若手研究者、若手研究者でコアメンバー）については、提案内容に応じて申請者ご自身のご判断にお任せします。

書面審査と面接審査の結果に基づき合議審査を行い、採否を決定します。

 

審査の観点

下記の観点に従い審査を行い採否を決定します。
（1） 国際共同研究で期待される効果（例：共同研究によるシナジー、若手研究者の育成等）が明確で大きい
（2） 国際共同研究することでどの様に基礎研究力向上に貢献するのかが明確で、貢献度も大きい
（3） 提案する研究の目的と重要性が明確であり、高い独自性（新規性、優位性等）と挑戦性を有する
（4） 目的を達成するための国際研究グループの連携体制・研究環境が整っている
（5） 国際共同研究の方法と計画が具体的かつ妥当であり実現可能性が高い

Call for Proposals: Leap into the World! International Research Networking Support Program

Overview

This program, established through the Daiichi-Sankyo “Habataku” Support Program for the Next Generation of Researchers, aims to accelerate the development of international collaborative research networks at the University of Tsukuba and foster new synergies across diverse basic research fields. Its objectives include the creation of international joint research projects, increased publication of high-quality co-authored papers, and long-term contributions to solving global challenges.

 

To achieve these objectives, we will solicit proposals for international collaborative research and provide support both to prospective applicants and to selected projects. Specifically, an Advisor System will be implemented during the application preparation phase to offer guidance on the formation of international research teams, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and facilitate research exchange. Following project selection, the International Double Mentor System will provide ongoing strategic support —such as mentorship, international networking, acquisition of foreign funding, and promotion of academic-industry collaboration— to strengthen the foundation of international engagement. Researchers at the University of Tsukuba will play a central role in building and leading these networks, contributing to the advancement of basic research both domestically and globally. The program also encourages the active participation of early-career researchers, including graduate students and postdoctoral researchers to engage in international collaborations, nurturing globally capable researchers and supporting the long-term growth of research capacity.

 

Scope of Support

The program seeks proposals for international collaborative research projects that help build a foundation for sustained international cooperation and enhance visibility within global academic communities.

 

Eligible projects should aim to:

1. Build or expand international networks that support cutting-edge research and development
2. Promote global mobility and offer top-tier international research opportunities to early-career researchers, contributing to the development of future research leaders

 

Funding and Number of Awards

• Up to 3.2 million JPY per project x 5 projects

 

Indicative Budget Allocation per Project

• Project Support Funds (see “Eligible Expenses” for details): Up to 2.7 million JPY
• International Double Mentor Costs (e.g., honoraria, travel expenses): Up to 500,000 JPY

 

Funding Period

• August 2025 to February 2027

 

Eligible Expenses

Funding may be used for, but is not limited to, the following:

1. Overseas travel
2. Costs associated with joint research activities
3. Personnel expenses for international network building
4. Organization of workshops and similar events
5. Expenses for research dissemination and publication

Applicants may use the Advisor System during the proposal preparation phase to receive expert advice on forming international teams and establishing interdisciplinary collaboration. To request this support, please complete and submit the application form via the following link:

After the application is accepted, support will be provided for processing honorarium payments if an advisor has already been selected. If no advisor has been designated, we will assist in identifying an appropriate advisor in collaboration with domestic and international universities, based on the applicant’s preferences. In both cases, assistance with honorarium payments will be provided.

※Definition of Basic Research:
Research that seeks to generate academic knowledge or conceptual innovation, without direct emphasis on commercialization or short-term implementation, and that aspires to contribute to the advancement of science and society over the next 10, 20, or even 100 years.

 

Eligibility Requirements

• Applicants must be full-time researchers at the University of Tsukuba.
• Applications must be submitted by an international research group that includes the applicant.

 

◆Requirements for the Research Group Composition：

• At least 4 core members (minimum 2 from Japan and 2 from overseas)
• At least 2 early-career researchers (minimum 1 from Japan and 1 from overseas)
• The research group must consist of at least six members.

 

※Definition of Early-career Researchers:
Graduate students (Master’s or Ph.D. level) or researchers within 8 years of obtaining their Ph.D. (excluding any career interruptions due to childbirth, childcare, caregiving, etc.)

Early-career researchers may also be included as core members.

※Definition of Core Members:

Students cannot be included as core members.

Regarding the classification of each team member (core member, early-career researcher, or early-career researcher serving as a core member), applicants are free to make their own judgments based on the content of their proposal.

Review and Selection

Review Process

Applications will be reviewed through a combination of document screening and interviews, followed by final evaluation by a review panel.

 

Evaluation Criteria

1. Clarity and significance of expected outcomes from international collaboration (e.g., research synergy, development of young researchers)
2. Contribution to strengthening basic research capabilities through international cooperation
3. Clear objectives and importance of the proposed research, including high originality and a strong degree of innovation
4. Well-established team structure and research environment to support the project’s objectives
5. Feasibility and appropriateness of proposed methods and implementation plans
