JSPS Research Fellowships for Young Scientist gives excellent young researchers the opportunity to devote themselves to research while choosing research subjects based on free thinking of curiosity driven, and to train and ensure future talented researchers.  When adopted, monthly living stipend/research incentive will be provided, and you can apply separately for research grants (Grant-in-Aid for JSPS Fellows).

JSPS Research Fellowships for Young Scientist – DC

Adopted period 2 – 3 years, stipend/research incentive monthly 200,000 yen

JSPS Research Fellowships for Young Scientist – PD
3 years adapted period, stipend/research incentive monthly ¥ 362,000

※ Person who is less than 5 years after obtaining the doctor’s degree as of April 1, 2021

(Person who obtained a degree after April 2, 2016, at the time of application, prospects applicants are acceptable)
   
JSPS Research Fellowships for Young Scientist – RPD

3 years of adopted period, stipend/research incentive monthly ¥ 362,000

* Person who has obtained a doctor ‘s degree as of April 1, 2021 (It is also a good prospect at the time of application).

* Person who suspended research activities for 3 months or more for childbirth / childcare that falls under any of the following.

① Person who has preschool preschoolers as of April 1,

② Person who gave birth or diseases or disabilities within the past 5 years (after April 1, 2015) retroactively from April 1,

※ Application deadline for submission to each department service office of the University is around late April to mid-May.  Please be sure to check and confirm the deadline date for your academic support office, graduate department support office etc.

Early February to mid-February　 Application Procedure announcement 
Early April to late May Applying through electronic application system
August to late September Primary selection (document-based selection)
Early October to mid-October Disclosure of primary selection results (adoption candidate / interview candidate / rejection)
Late November to December Secondary Selection (Interview Screening)
the beginning of January the following year Disclosure of Secondary screening result (recruitment candidate / interview candidate / rejection)

Notice 

Please note kindly that since the adoption in FY2018 (FY2017 application period), obtaining in Ph. D is essential to be adopted as PD and RPD.  If you can not obtain Ph. D by the adoption date, it will be rejected.

特別研究員制度は、優れた若手研究者に対して、自由な発想のもとに主体的に研究課題等を選びながら研究に専念する機会を与え、研究者の養成・確保を図る制度です。採用されると月々の生活費（研究奨励金）が給付されるとともに、別途研究費（特別研究員奨励費）に応募することができます。

重要なお知らせ

平成30年度採用（平成29年度申請分）より、PD・RPDに採用されるためには博士の学位が必須となり、採用日までに博士の学位が取得できない場合は不採用となりますのでご注意ください。

 

申請資格・支給経費・採用期間（令和3年度公募情報より）

特別研究員-DC
採用期間2-3年間、研究奨励金月額20万円
特別研究員-PD
採用期間3年間、研究奨励金月額36.2万円
※令和3年4月1日現在、博士の学位を取得後5年未満の者
（平成28年4月2日以降に学位を取得した者。申請時においては、見込みでも良い。）。
   
特別研究員-RPD
採用期間3年間、研究奨励金月額36.2万円
※令和3年4月1日現在、博士の学位を取得している者（申請時においては見込みでも良い。）。
※次のいずれかに該当する者。
① 令和2年4月1日時点で未就学児を養育しており、その子の出産・育児のため、平成25年10月1日から令和2年3月31日の間に3ヶ月以上研究活動を中断した者。
② 出産又は疾病や障害のある子を養育したため、平成27年4月1日から令和2年3月31日の間に、3ヶ月以上研究活動を中断した者。

 

募集から採択までのスケジュール（令和3年度公募情報より）

※筑波大各部局への申請書提出〆切は4月下旬～5月中旬です。必ず提出先事務室（系の支援室、研究科の事務室など）に提出締切日を確認してください。

2月上旬～中旬　 募集要項公表
4月上旬～5月下旬 電子申請システムにて申請受付
8月～9月下旬 第一次選考（書類選考）
10月上旬～中旬頃 第一次選考結果開示（採用内定者／面接候補者／不採用者）
11月下旬～12月頃 第二次選考（面接選考）
翌年1月上旬までに 第二次選考結果開示（採用内定者／面接候補者／不採用者）

→採用決定
