CHEN, Chen

Headquarters

Please feel free to contact me with any problems you may have in your research activities or any other trivial matters. I would be happy to provide you with new ideas by utilizing my linguistic skills in Chinese and English, and my domestic and international networks.

What kind of career have you passed through so far?

From China to Japan and the World
Since failing my primary choice of university in China's fierce university entrance examinations, I have taken many detours.

In my fourth year of university, I had the opportunity to listen to a lecture by a professor from the laboratory I had entered,  and decided to study in Japan.

As I devoted myself to research on urban planning with focusing on the prevention of nursing care for the elderly, I realized the joy and fascination of academia, Subsequently, I entered the doctoral program as an international student funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT)-JAPAN.

There were many hardships due to the political influence between Japan and China, When I was a doctoral student, I served as the president of the Kumamoto Prefecture Chinese Alumni Association(an organization led by the Consulate General of China in Fukuoka)and worked to solve the difficulties faced by international students by promoting communication between the two countries, academic exchange between Chinese students in Japan and scientific research organizations. As a result, I received an award from the Consulate General of China in Fukuoka as the outstanding president of the Kyushu region of the Chinese alumni association.

In addition, while I was in the doctoral program, I went to Sweden, participating in an architecture project related to welfare at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. The collaboration of excellent researchers from around the world who were conducting cutting-edge research inspired me.

I became a member of the University of Tsukuba Research Administration / Management Office because I wanted to contribute to international research as a URA who plays a diplomatic role for the university in Japan, a country that changed my life.

What are important things/values/significance/ in your work?

Passion and Flexibility
I want to charge, renew, and reconfigure myself without losing my passion for my work, even in the eratimes of drastic change.

As a URA, I am always conscious of considering things from the standpoint of the researcher. I want to listen to even the most trivial of concerns and help expand the potential of researchers.

What are your future goals and prospects?

To be a URA who supports international activities
I want to continue to be a reliable companion for researchers and do my best to support them in becoming successful in the world.

Researchers need to build a network of contacts with researchers outside their field and to engage in international activities. I want to bridge between excellent researchers and research institutions worldwide, actively promoting international collaborative research.
